About Friends-4-Eva.Com

Friends-4-Eva.Com was born at the beginning of 2008 by Jonathon Bates, while on an overdue backpacking holiday with his wife. They started their journey in Beijing by joining a tour group for an epic adventure from Beijing through to Russia (via Mongolia and Siberia). The tour took place over 23 days which allowed Jonathon enough time to think about how he could aid his fellow travelers with some of the issues he had faced in the past. He had previously been on tours where in the final day or two there was a mad rush to organise a method of sharing photos. Usually the end result was that nothing ever came of this. Photos were never seen, and he was often left disappointed but also understanding. He knew that people are generally lazy - they are human after all. So while on the long train trips between Beijing and St Petersburg, he got to thinking ‘What can I really do?’ He knew that if was going to develop a system it was going to have to be:

  • Easy To Use
  • Practical
  • Expandable
  • Accessible By Everyone

This site is the amalgamation of a number of ideas that has popped into his head during this time. He knew that there were a number of other systems out there, however he knew that e-mail is inefficient and slow. He knew that Facebook scaled down the uploaded images, so you could never create a high resolution print.

The name Friends-4-Eva.Com came from a Croatian tour just after the China – Russia tour. The couple spent a week on a yacht with 20 other young people, and one of the guys on the tour made the habit of saying ‘Friends For Ever’ while jumping off the boat. He would also make everyone put there hands together and say ‘Down on friends, up on forever.’ And so the name stuck.

The team here at Friends-4-Eva.Com hope you enjoy the system that has been developed for us all, and if you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
